Laude novella sia cantata
A l’alto donna encoronata
Fresca vergene doncella
Priomo fior, rosa novella
Tutto’l mondo a te s’apella
Nella bonor fosti nata
Tu se’ verga, tu se’fiore
Tu se’ luna de splendore
Volunta avemo e core
De venir a te, ornata
—
Don’t let go of my hand
Repair joyfully, probing, the entire globe
if this knot of mine overflows the world
I only want to connect our fortunes
that simply met each other at the same time
I’ll protect the world from within my knot
I’ll create the future
—
I’m pretty much dead from exhaustion after working on this piece for two days straight, but I hope it’s satisfactory to me even after I get some rest and look at it again.
Like the Aradia and Vriska paintings, I’ve combined religious imagery and Homestuck into something… weird and kind of pretentiously cool.
Also, Kanaya is a BAMF and this painting doesn’t come close to portraying that side of her.
Pencil, watercolors, gold watercolor and slight Copics on hot press watercolor paper.

Ohhh stunning °3°

this is so gorgeous. oh wow.

The ligaments are completely fried after this. What is with this obsession with painting troll girls in pretentious art nouveau-style poses? (Just wait, Terezi is going to be a doozy, believe me!)I feel a bit uneasy about Nepeta being the only troll in this watercolor series to be depicted as being in a romantic pairing; I know that, despite being a minor character, she’s more than just her relationship with Karkat or Equius. Still, it’s a key aspect of her story, and I sympathize with the poor kid because of how pathetic and doomed her crush on Karkat was. Furthermore, my heart does indeed break a little when I contrast that with their ancestors’ story. The gold watercolors ended up looking very orange in this. It is a fucking love story.
It’s a tragic love story, but a love story nonetheless.
It is a story based around two ‘star-crossed lovers’. That is what we call a love story.

I dunno, I’m going to disagree here. I guess it’s because I don’t really hold with the whole “love at first sight” deal, which we can debate around and around for the rest of our lives. To me, it definitely is a tragedy, but it centers more on the promise of what could have been than what actually was. For all we know, they could’ve had a lovely few months courting before going their separate ways, so to speak.

About me

You suddenly understand jack shit.
Hiya, I'm Brynn. I do some things and I like a lot of stuff, and I try not to dislike too many things. I don't normally find myself in a position in which I have the opportunity to be original and witty, so I just reblog a bunch of stuff.
Swing on by, I'm sure we'll get along splendidly!
